The UV-reactive blue plastic entrance disc is a great option for a swarm trap entrance. Brian Fleischmann, in a study published in Bee Culture, demonstrated “that visual stimulii are an important consideration in swarm trap attraction and selection.” He also states, “this study revealed that UV-reactive blue swarm trap entrances nearly doubled the number of scout bees observed over the control. In addition swarms chose the UV-blue entrance traps over the control 100% of the time.”
Use the open setting for full nectar flow. Use the Small Holes setting as ventilation when you need to transport the swarm trap.
